| List of Xiaomi smartphones getting Android Nougat update |
Xiaomi recently announced the list of smartphone getting new Android version update name Nougat and followed up with new updates for its MIUI operating system. The company has now confirmed that it plans to update a total of 14 devices to Android Nougat and put up a list of eligible devices.
The list first detailed of Xiaomi smartphones getting Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 7.1 Nougat update. The company says it will update Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi 5c and Redmi 4X to Android 7.1 Nougat while Mi Max, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 4c, Mi 4s, Mi Note, Mi Note 2, Mi Mix and Redmi Note 4X (Redmi Note 4 in India) to Android 7.0 Nougat.
The information regarding Android Nougat update comes right after a Xiaomi smartphone codenamed Riva was spotted on GeekBench running Android 7.1.2 Nougat. While Xiaomi does offer regular updates for its MIUI, the company is not known for offering the latest version of Android.
With the new detailed list of Android Nougat compatibility, the company seems to get serious about updating its smartphones to the latest version of Android. Xiaomi is expected to start rolling out MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat for eligible devices in the next few days and all future devices are expected to launch with Android 7 Nougat.
Note: The list doesn't include the original Redmi Note 4 but India variant is likely to get the update
